lorna, where are you?

First Smitty then Lorna, they were both a wealth of information but I guess that's the way it goes. Live or learn or crash and burn. I gotta run some miles and burn some fuel, C,ya bye!!

Das Mel,
Sorry you gotta read this stuff here about your mum. I know she wears here emotions on the end of her shirt sleeves but so be it. She seems well meaning and like solid people. She had some good, cheap idea's about conversion. I PM'd her not long ago on some door instructions and she got back to me pronto; so she's around. She pointed me at a nice site she has up about the bus. I'm all about cheap so I liked her info.
We all got idea's about how these bus projects should go. We all have different uses for our buses. Mine is supposed to save me money. It is obvious looking at some of these builds that cost is not a huge concern. Hey that's good if you've got the money to do it. Just not my style is all.

Is THAT what those deleted posts were about? You think I'm my Mum? ...that's kinda hurtful, thought I was more like my Dad than Mum... If I was Mum, wouldn't I slip up or summat and put in, ya know, useful information rather than my twisty-tie sense of humour? Because, dude, that's creepy as **** and I wouldn't do that. I'd rather be creepy at people in person. I can SHOW YOU (not sure just HOW, though) I ain't mein Mutter. Whether or not you'd actually believe it is entirely up to ya, not me.

Look, mates, I can understand that things got outta hand. Crap was spewed and mud was slung and it made a lot of people butthurt about it. Like Cal said, life goes on. Big whoop and alla that jazz. I look at it this way; in a hundred years it ain't agonna matter much, so why bother? No, seriously, why are you bothering?

Oi, Syke, I got the information wrong. Mum won't be deleting anything. Bad info on my part, I apologize. Pleeeeease don't haaaaate meeeeeee! I'mma be so LOOOOONELY WIT'OUT'CHA!

...wait, Lonely or Looney? I can never remember.

Didn't know Smitty so can't say. Did know Lorna and---well--we all have our opinions I guess. Perhaps the latest change will encourage others to pick up the seeming slack and offer up their knowledge and experience as the forum continues. In my opinion that would be a good thing.

Also if you dig deep enough in internet land, Das Mel seems to be Lorna going by a different name, posing as her own daughter. Creepy as **** if you ask me.

I'm not buying it. They write totally different and Das Mel has a self deprecating humor. Even if you smoked crack with the Mayor of Toronto, you couldn't say that about Ms. L with a straight face.

As far as I'm concerned, she is welcome here but if she is going to throw a hissyfit every seven minutes and be shitty, maybe it's good that she has gone into hiding.

The irony in L.'s departure lies in this post of hers on a different thread: "Are you finished giving everyone a verbal spanking yet? Let it go. Talk about beating a dead horse. Or are you a "self appointed expert" in protocol, manners and etiquette? Let's lighten up people [emphasis added]. ..."

Double standard alert! OK, sorry for stretching this thread further; just thought the above was...um, interesting.

Speaking of food...... I am thinking of making this for breakfast on Thursday. I haven't decided yet as the entire day is spent cooking anyhow... opinions?

Celiacs. Can't have wheat.
LIES!!! They can have wheat...... they just pay a higher price for it than the rest of us. :D
So does gluten free taste the same? Or is it like sugar-free, where it tastes off but it's better than coma?

I am going to beat you with a wet rice noodle.

Nah, it doesn't taste the same. I make bread, waffles, pancakes, and corn muffins with rice flour, potato starch, millet, and corn meal. It's different. Bread is denser, brown rice noodles pretty much taste the same (I fed a FOUR-YEAR OLD homemade gluten-free mac-n-cheese and he couldn't tell the difference. Now THAT'S a Taste Test WIN!), and sweet quick breads cook up differently. It does have a nasty habit of drying out in the fridge,so I typically only make as much as I'm going to eat in one sitting.

Not having a microwave kinda helps in that aspect, cold noodles of any kind is icky. *Gaaaaags*

I too am a Celiac. By the age of 15 if I didn't remove Wheat, Barley, Rye, and Oats from my diet, I was headed for hospitalization. It took 4 years to get my strength and stamina back to almost normal levels. 10 years to completely recover to full health.

I also can't consume refined sugar from sugar beets. It shuts down my pancreas and puts me back on insulin.

All in all my food allergy's are a blessing. They force me to eat more raw, unprocessed, foods. I also had to learn a great deal about nutrition to get my mental and physical strength back. The life I lead and enjoy depends on it.

What is your food allergy story Dasmel?

Nat

Been glutenfree for almost 2 years now, on the suggestion of a one-time celiac customer. It messes with my brain waves (the Zombie-fication process is 86% complet---Duuuuuuuuuuuuuurp) and gut activity. Rashes and welts when I've been contaminated. Haven't gotten tested for it because it's so bloody expensive and I'd have to be back on the wheat for 3 months in order not to get a false negative. I didn't realize just how much OH GAWD PAIN I was in until I started healing up. I don't pop painkillers like skittles anymore (...okay, certain times of the month I can go through a whole bottle in under a week).

Getting Corn syrup and High Fructose out of my system now.

So to be American is to deliberately destroy your health with irresponsible nutritional choices? :(

I'm sure glad I'm Canadian. :D

I think many are uneducated about nutrition. They just plain don't know what is going into their body and what it is doing to them.
