Hi everyone!
Hoping I’m posting this in the correct area.
We currently live in Los Angeles and plan on making a purchase of a bus in the next month. Since we live in Hollywood and there’s no where to park while we do the conversion, does anyone know of anyone in the general area willing to help us out? Land or a workspace that we could could park up and work? Obviously willing to pay for the much appreciated space. My husband is a contractor so we plan on working quickly. I would like to be out of this apartment yesterday.

Thank you so much for any guidance!

Welcome and congratulations on not making a common mistake :)

As you spend time here you will see a reoccurring post "Help! I bought a bus and have no place to park it"

I would suggest looking at Craigslist for RV storage and inquire about working on it in the storage location.

Call around to every self-storage and u-haul/budget etc. truck rental place; some will have lots for RV storage and they may or may not allow you to work on it. You can be vague about exactly how much and what kind of work you need to do. Some places will require proof of title/registration and insurance, some will not.

You don't really need electricity since generators are pretty cheap and easy to deal with - although having a generator running may be an issue with whomever you rent a spot from.

Even after you find a place, keep your eyes open for other places. They may be better, or you may find yourself having to scramble and move the bus in a hurry - like, if the elderly guy you rent a spot from on a handshake agreement suddenly has a heart attack and his loathsome daughter kicks you out. Just sayin'.

Also great advice, and also very detailed hahaha .. I’m so sorry that happened to you. I feel like it’s been harder to get any kind of even semi-corporate places to say yes to even dotage let alone working on it. I have a lady right now now that is saying yes in her land but we’ll see what she wants to charge us. Friggin LA !!!

Finding a place within 60 miles of Hollywood is going to really cost. While riding The Strand last weekend, around El Segundo, just north of that campground on the beach there was a dude in the parking lot working on his sprinter.

You’ll have a big vehicle. Find a place to store it then do a guerrilla conversion where you can. I bet there’s industrial areas you can work on it and no one would care.

Check craigslist; I have mine stored in Jurupa Valley / Riverside area. It's a ways away, but it's not too pricy and they let me convert while it's stored!!

I would like to be out of this apartment yesterday.

Tarp/tent.
Sleeping bags.
A few water jugs.
Tortillas.
Peanut butter.
A shovel.
Toilet paper.
Hand sanitizer.
Phone with a Verizon SIM card and a decent data plan.
Box of tools.
Three buckets.
Cleaning rags.
A car to go into town with for supplies (optional).

Pack up your apartment and put it in storage. Head out to public lands like BLM or national Forest and get to it. You'll quickly see what is actually important for your conversion and you'll be able to prioritize better.

Storage ** also just saw you are from philly .. same !!

I'm actually from Cleveland originally, but I've lived in Philly for the last ten years. This is a pretty terrible area for trying to live in a skoolie (I have nothing lined up yet for when the bus is actually habitable), but it seems like LA would be ten times worse.
