Losing an auction ...

did the price just get out of range? looks like a nice bus for a reasonable price

It sat at a very low price for a long time. Two guys bid it up to around $1700, fighting against each other.

This morning a new buyer appeared and pushed the price to 2000.

There is stayed until 10 mins before the auction end when I placed my only bid, a max bid of $2800. The new guy pushed me from $2100 to $2600, then bid $3000.

I decided not to bid again because there is Sales Tax, and 10% auction fee and it still could have cost me $500 to fix the rough idle.

I would have bid $3000, but he got there first so I let him have what seems to be an excellent bus, at a very good price.

I honestly expected it to go well over $4000 ... he got a great deal.

bidding wars suck.. and when there is a new bidder in at the last minute they may be prepared to run it up a bit.. its one of those you never know type things.. when I got my texas bus it seemed to gert pretty muxh over looked.. there was only 1 other bidder and they bailed after 1 bid.. other busses like it went for double at that auction... and then sometimes i see busses that I would call junk get bid up to 4000, 5000 or more... I guess it all depends on the 2 bidders at war and how deep pockets each has..

I believe alot of this has to do with "want" vs common sense.. get excited so much that a person wont use common sense and let a bus go.. they just keep bidding it up and up.. if 2 people do such then a 2000 bus ends up at 7000...

That's why I stopped :)

I only entered one bid ... $2800. It's a price I was happy to pay. There will be more buses.

I always bid early and let the other guys pay more than its worth to ME.
I lose a TON of auctions. But the ones I've won have been AMAZING deals.

I almost bought a fishbowl.. then stopped myself.. glad I lost that auction.. last thing i need right now is another bus..

This is totally normal! Keep your head up! It took us about 3 or 4 different auctions until we won ours for the price we could afford ($1,650). Also timing seems to be a major thing. Mid summer school districts seem to release busses in flocks making supply and demand more in your favor. We bid when there were 12 busses listed on 4th of July weekend while everyone was probably camping or with family. Best of luck!! ❤️🤞

Summer is definitely the peak time for schools selling off their old buses.

... and we can wait.

In the meantime, I'll keep placing bids on suitable buses, at a price I want to pay. We might just get lucky.

I watched two on GovDeals last night. Each had two bidders fighting it out and they both bid to $5000, which was about $2000 more than they should have sold for.

Even at $3000 it would still have cost around $700 to get it home, so I was just a spectator.
