Ok. Not really but... I fought with many different ideas to lock my bus from the inside and finally ended with this. MAGNETS. Don't laugh, it works.Simple and cheap, like my first wife. They are easy to place and will not break or move. The magnets come in a pack of 2 for $2.99 from Lowes. The PVC over the front door handle is not a lock, it is a "locked out" preventer. Hope this can help someone .

Huh? You need to explain how this works to those of us that have huffed too much rust converter

Locks

Ok.
1) the pvc pipe over the front door grab handle does not let it lock under the flat bar so you won't be locked out if you close it too tightly. Just remove it to lock it when are in for the night.
2) Both the rear door and handicap door can be locked by simply putting a magnet on the slide so no matter how hard someone pulls on the handle it will not open from the outside.
* pictures show magnet position when locked or "stored"

the magnets are wide enough for the bolt to not fully draw back into the handle releasing the door.
the pvc pipe is tall enough that it hits the spring loaded lever before it can raise up to latch on the factory configuration.

Not that anybody would know to do this, but I wonder if a powerful enough magnet on the outside would allow a burglar to shift the little magnet off the bolt.

My rear door is automatically locked because I cut off the outer handle and plated over the opening, so the door can only be opened from the inside (and in case of an emergency, I wouldn't have to fiddle with any kind of interior lock since there isn't one).

your genius might be showing?
and emergency exit isnt there or just the BS wiring?

I do wear my genius on my sleeve!

Not sure what you mean by "emergency exit isn't there". The door and the inner handle are still there, but the latch sensor and the deadbolt (and sensor) have been removed.

Same here, could not stand the sensor buzzers and usually the only person in the back while driving is my wife. And if she opens the door and falls out, oh well.

I like your solution so much more. I’m goin go to be doing it this way

Similar to how we DIY unlock/open the CD cases, with their magnetic locks, that the library uses.
