Main Passenger door security?

Not really sure how to ask or where to ask so I apologize in advance.. but does anyone have any tips for securing the main electric door on a bus? I'm looking for a cost effective way to prevent someone from prying the doors open and stealing say my $3,000 mountain bike? Aside from having it locked up inside the bus I mean.. Thanks guys!

Someone knowledgeable will reply but until then, I have same issue. I might have a plan but haven't had time to look at details. One possibility might be to ditch the rubber flap, weld in square steel tubing and from there a multitude of door locks. And cut in holes for bolt. But I need oxy acetylene tanks. Not sure if there is an easier way with fewer tools involved.

I've been pondering the same thing. My bus door has way more glass than metal, so a lot of the options that I've seen just won't work.

I've been considering retrofitting a trunk latch from a car and using a door servo to actuate it. I'd tie that into the door switch, so the door would function as it always has from that respect.

Engine off, from outside, I'm thinking either a keyless entry remote (cheap car alarm, etc) or a HID access card system.

I may be out of my mind, or I may be an evil genius.... fine line.

I put one of the round full shackle locks on the front and rear doors, and bought a 4 camera Nightowl security dvr system for only $250. cameras even helped catch a car thief for Richmond Police, and it is nice to be able to switch tv to video input and see what is going on outside the bus at night.

Diyskoolie.com mounted a deadbolt to the bottom of the door so that the door can't bend inward and be opened when it's locked. And since it's a deadbolt you can unlock it from both sides. I'll probably be doing something similar if I go the Skoolie route.

Cameras will be installed for sure. I considered the deadbolt idea, unfortunately, the AmTran doors don't have enough frame for a deadbolt.

It's your bus now. Hack it up to suit your needs. Add some angle, tube and make a frame.

Some people like to switch to mobile home door.

I'm taking the door off completely, using the 4 glass panels from the existing door and making a new one with 2 2x4's on the side and a 2x3 in the middle. Then taking off the old frame and putting a new wood one in like a house and using a deadbolt.

Any good ideas on locking the back door though? That's where my bike is :/

I put a hasp and padlock on mine eyebolt for storage of lock and hasp so the wind doesn't lock me in.

I made my first door lock with a latch and hasp, then I figured out kids could lock me in with a twig. I ended up using two eye bolts and a chain.
