Maine Licensing

So I have recently decided to join the Skoolie Community and have started the search for the perfect bus. I have a few questions on licensing, I live in the state of Maine and have been looking to see what I would need other than insurance and registration to drive a bus off a lot, it seems like I won’t need a CDL since it won’t be used commercially but I’m not sure if I will need an Air brake endorsement? Hoping I could maybe get some answers before I have to call the DMV.

Another question, regarding the insurance and registration, will I need to register it as a straight up bus before any conversions start? That may be a silly question but I like to have all the answers!!
