Hey, I'm Rob. My soul partner, Michelle and I are taking the skoolie plunge and as nervous as we are eager about the undertaking of our conversion. If anyone can recommend a great book or some starting point to ease our anxiety and get us on the road to success, we'd sure appreciate it. Thanks!

welcome,
I'm pretty sure this is the book on converting a bus :)
pretty much the start point is
#1 get bus
#2 gut bus
#3 use your imagination and start building.

welcome robgoldman
#4 don't bother with plans because the bus or your wife will change them
#5 get a first aid kit….. a really good one with lots of band aids
#6 a dumpster the biggest one you can fit on your drive way
#7 buy the best bus you can afford
#8 read all the forums here it will save you from making those mistakes

if someone wrote a book it wouldn't be something that would really benefit you because bus conversions are as unique as the people building them.
we live in ours full time. and love it its a fantastic life style and when your finished with yours you'll understand this

bus converters bible by dave galey was a good primer to all the systems. thin on details, but helpful

you'll need to understand electricty better than most humans... i would enroll in an accredited double e program.

welcome and goodluck :)

Welcome.

Read, read and read more build threads. They contain unreal amounts of info and knowledge.

Many build threads tell life stories like mine. Entire chapters of people unique adventures.

And read the Insurance subforum to because that's one of those annoying details that will suck the life right out of you

Welcome Guys! --- There are a few books of interest out there worth looking over...but as previously noted...this forum is without a doubt the best place on the planet to get real world insight into the planning & building processes.

That said...here's a couple of titles that while not geared to actual construction, can be at least, quite inspiring...(also can be somewhat hard to find these days)...

Rolling Homes: Handmade Houses on Wheels

Some Turtles Have Nice Shells: A Picture Book of Handbuilt Housetrucks and Housebuses

Just read through as many "build threads" here as possible and you will be years ahead when you get ready to jump in.

Let the journey begin.
