Guys I just found this posted on another board and thought I would share. I know he has posted here quite a bit and thought you would like to know.

I just got a phone call from a fellow busnut that lives in Louisiana. Kevin recently purchased a GM Buffalo near Ft. Myers, FL and stopped by our place for a few days on his way back to Louisiana. He just called me to tell me they had a fire at their house today. The house and his bus were totally destroyed along with 14 pets (10 birds, 2 cats, and 2 dogs). Kevin said his parents and brothers are OK, but he suffered some 2nd and 3rd degree burns. That is all the details I have at this time. I think Kevin posted more on the BNO BB, but he usually went by MacGyver.
I am sure they would appreciate any help that can be provided. If anyone wants to make a donation, Kevin's PayPal account is phyrebyrd@yahoo.com Kevin's phone number is 318-840-9254 Jack

hang in there mac sorry to hear about the loss of pets, looks like you may be able to repair the bus, glad that you are ok.timbuk

That bus is a total loss--don't put any of your money into it!

When you get yourself setteled, buy a school bus. You can get a great bus for less (much less) than 2K.

Welcome back.

To keep it from rusting, I suggest grabbing a case of cheap spray-paint & just fogging everything scorched. Yes, you'll have to get it off later, but...that's later, and this should seal & protect the metal.

i don't imagine the law suit will go very far. the safety of humans far outweighs the loss of property. it seems unlikely that a jury would fault an officer for looking out for your safety even if it led to further loss of property ie: your bus.

the fire and loss of your pets, possessions etc really sucks! best of luck to ya man.

You need a new bus, really.

agreed! It sucks, but sometimes a person needs to know when to cut their losses. It seems you could buy a "new" bus in nice condition for less than it would cost to get this one back into useable shape. Then you could sell the powertrain from this bus on ebay or carigslist to help offset the cost.
