Metal plate in floor

Currently finishing up tearing out the subfloor. About 5ft behind the front right wheel well is a metal plate that is screwed down. This is almost directkyabove the fuel tank.

Anyine know what this is for? The screws are too dirty for us to pull it up and we don't wanna yank this thing and damage something.

Could be access to the sending unit in the fuel tank.

If I yank this plate out with brute force will that rip anything out or do you think it's simply an access panel?

Just an access panel. If it's screwed down, remove it and get your answer.

a scribe, or pick are your friend with dirty hardware. that and a good degreaser like LPS makes one called OCX.

When I had to replace the float on the sending unit, I enlarged that hole so the job will be easier next time.
