Montgomery County auction is on!!!

Are the buses they have listed on there decent for a skoolie? What's the rust going to be like around there?

hey,
i have not looked at the buses. i can tell you as a resident of the state of maryland, they get all whoo who about using as much salt as possible on the roads. my older car is pretty darn rusty. not all cold states use salt tho.

good luck

Rust wise I would look at porkchopsandwiches build. He has one from past years auction. Also look at the journey visi. They were both from last year's auction.

I went to the Rockville and Bethesda bus yards today to check out the buses up on public surplus and govdeals. No joke about the rust. I was wondering if anyone else had been and checked them out? Is the rust going to be a big problem or is it mostly cosmetic? I noticed on most if not all of the buses frames had sheets of rust ready to fall off. If I were to buy a bus in a non salt city would the rust really be that much less for a bus thats 12 years old?

I looked at them as well, I ended up buying one. I was actually impressed with how little rust was on them, the frames were all that was rusted and that seemed to be mostly surface stuff/ stuff behind the paint, nothing that can't be sanded down and painted/treated. Now to figure out how to get it out of Maryland.... The lack of transit tags at the Maryland DMV is really complicating my life...

Look at wmkbaileys thread. He had the same problems last year.
Good luck

Yeah, I read all the way through his thread, was very helpful. I need to get it to CT, and I have insurance and someone with a CDL lined up to drive it, just need tags. Looks like I'm gonna have to drive down to get the title and then back up here to get temp tags.... ah, well, I knew I was getting myself into a lot of work when I started down this road :-D

Some of the sellers will mail you the title if you pay for the postage. Might be worth asking.

I offered to pay them whatever they wanted to overnight it to me, apparently they don't mail docs under any circumstances. Really sucks. :?
