One of the erudite contributors to CCJ knows something about it (actually he knows lots about almost everything bus-related, especially Crowns), and he says:

"That bus used to be in the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, and it's from out here in CA. It has a Patchetts and Carstensen (P&C) body, made in Newman, CA. Gillig bought them out in 1938, but Patchetts had a charter service for many years afterward, selling out in the late '60's.

I have information directly from the Studebaker Museum on this bus, but no serial number.

It has no seats, and I think it was repowered. It has a '60's Dodge van speedometer and dash shifter."

So, there you have it. Thank you, Tom.

Ah...Newman, CA. What a fine place indeed.

I really like the paint on the windows....... Gives it some class........ Whatever that is.

I do like it heading...... "buy on old bus, replace seat with beds and road trip the states with good people" ....

Yeah,I know. It's just a dumb sprinter, but what the hay, It's Switzerland.
I rather like the grille on the 2003-06 Dodge version. It looks "Dodge-y" enough to make the Mercedes and Freightliner look like derivatives rather than the other way around. Of course, that's ignoring the rest of the body.

Lars, that appears to be a right hand drive--is that correct or was the pic foto flipped I wonder. Jack

Yep its a wrong sided. Belongs to a limousine service in Australia. I just found it during one of those endless searches for bus stuff. :D
