Moving' on up! Outgrown the Westy

Hello members. I'm not a bus owner yet. I have owned a VW Westfalia for several years though. I'm looking into getting a short bus to convert for living in over the warmer months in ME while doing site work for my real house. Then have the bus for travel.
I'm currently looking at a gas powered 36 passenger GMC chassised Bluebird. Any insight into this model would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Hops. Welcome, and the information you are looking for is here. However you're going to have to provide some information on your bus first. Engine, transmission, body style. Photos are always welcome, so before you have to ask upload them to Photobucket then transfer them here. It's not the only way but it does seem to be the most reliable way to transfer photos.

By the way, I love what you do for beer.

I'm still out looking and have only found one in my area and am going to look closer at it tomorrow. 'Hops' is the trail handle given to me for always providing cold VT beer to hikers I would shuttle back and forth to the AT. I'll certainly post pics and info as I find it. Right now the short Bluebird makes the most sense as I am very familiar with GM trucks and engines and this is a gas powered one.

Gas buses aren't great for "travel", if by travel you mean long hours on the interstate. The low torque, and high fuel consumption make for a bad time.
My first bus was a gasser and It cost me a TON of money just to drive it around the county.

I'm not too worried in a short bus. I'm not one for interstates and if I get a GM 366 big block I will be happy. They are a low rev/high torque medium duty truck engine. Even a 7.4/454 Vortec is bearable. Considering I drove around for two years in a 4cyl VW westy getting 18 mpg, getting half that in a medium duty short bus is okay with me.
