Moving the door rearward

Have any of you tried, or considered moving the schoolbus door back a couple of feet so the copilot seat could sit alongside the driver? I have seen several with the seat at the top of the steps, but I wuold like it to be on the right side and up front. I imagine it would take some cutting welding and bodywork, but should be doable. I don't want to try to engineer it if someone has already invented that wheeel.

He moved his door and put a copilot's seat up front. A REALLY GREAT conversion....
