PLease tell me it's a good deal!

I have been looking for a skhoolie for the last 3 years.

I just purchased a 1998 35' bus, with cummins 5.9l motor, rear engine, with 60k on the clock.

I will have paid about $7000 total. For that, I get air conditioning, push button 5 speed allison transmission, and a wheel chair lift.

bus has a high ceiling (80" inside and 11' high chassis)

what do you think?

I'd say it sounds like a good deal. Most of us paid a lot less but have much older bus's - mine is 7 years older for example. At $7,000 it'd be out of my price range but if I had the money I'd have looked for something newer like this with less miles.

I think the appeal of most skoolies is they're "cheap" at least in initial vehicle cost, this bus is more expensive but I think it's a good value.

I tried to find a good rear engine bus on ebay, but the best I can find was in the $3k range, with high miles and no air.

I figured that I can save some time and the cost of air conditioning by buying it built in. I can hardly afford it either, but if I convert it into a veg oil bus, it would save me $$$ every month in gas, so I figured it was a good deal. Plus it's not traditional yellow, so I save on paint, and it's high roof, so I save on raising the roof etc.

I am picking it up tomorrow, and driving it across country. wish me luck :D

I'd say that's a good deal. Anything newer than 1995 seems to be more expensive. But you have A/C, 80" ceiling, and the 5.9 Cummins. I'm jealous. :D Someday I plan to upgrade buses. I'll be willing to spend $7K or $8K. Also, when you pick the bus up and drive it back across country, make sure you take plenty of pictures and give us a report when you get back! Let us know how fast it will go on the highway!

I am leaving to go north over 700 one way on Friday to get my new Skoolie. So we will both be on the road in our new rides. :) Safe trip to ya.
