Hello everyone. I'm looking at a local 6 window bus that has a Navistar DTA360 engine and Allison MT643 4 speed transmission. It seems like people have a moderately favorable opinion of the transmission, but I'm not finding much here on the DTA360.

What I have discovered is that this is a 5.9 liter inline 6 with wet sleeves, the "A" denotes aftercooler, and appears to be in the same family as the well-known DT466.

Curious if anyone has any experience with it. Love it or hate it?

Thanks!

I and a couple friends have DTA360's the yare fantastic engines.. esp in a short bus.. reliable, wet sleeve, fully mechanical.. with a 643 in a 6 window you should have a blast... I have a 7 window carpenter with the less-efficient 545 and a DTA360.. ive put 15k on that bus in the 2 years ive had it.. much of it running it all over the eastern USA.. hills and all.. its not craxy fast but it runs great, never gets hot, and is easy to work on.. ive had to do ZERO to my engine in that bus thus far..

They're very dependable. I like them a lot.
