So my bus has sloar array, chatge controller, inverter and 24 volt battery bank. There is a plug installed for shore power but it is not wired to anything yet. So the only way to charge batteries now is solar...I want tole to install a trasnsfer switch to be able to use shore power to charge batteries thru the charge controller and power all AC outlets at the same time.
Previous owner said he bought a transfer switch from china but it didnt work so he removed...need to get it sorted out cause batteries are suffering!
Can I get any transfer switch from RV dealer and install, does it need to be a 24 volt switch? Any advice would be awesome, :Thanx:

Looks like there are 2 issues to address.

1) You will need a battery charger for your 24V system that matches the chemistry you have (Lithium or Lead-acid) so you can charge the batteries by plugging into shore power. I am assuming the charge controller is for the solar system and so won't be used to charge from shore power.
In the simplest version, wire a single outlet to your shore power plug, and plug the new battery charger into that. That would mean the other plugs are still powered by the inverter so not a complete solution.

2) You also want shore power to energize your plugs, so for that a transfer switch can work well to switch your plugs from inverter to shore. There are manual and automatic versions that can both work. However, the transfer switch won't charge the batteries by itself, and you will still need the charger from 1) above to do that.
Note also that you may still want to wire an outlet upstream of the transfer switch on the shore power side for the charger. That way you are not powering the battery charger from the battery-powered inverter (a wasteful loop of silliness).

ok I see. for some reason I thought my charge controller could do the charging if connected to shore power...So if not, I will locate a 24 v charger. thanks for the

your know-how!

I use twist lock plugs and outlets to choose where I want my power to go or where to send it, cheap, simple, foolproof and no confusing instructions for novices.
