Need bus mechanic in the Bay Area for my Skoolie project

Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum and am very excited to be able to discuss and ask questions about everyone’s experiences.

While I already have an incredible welder to do construction, I need to find a mechanic in the Oakland/Bay Area who is willing to travel to a few buses to investigate whether they would be solid purchases for my home.

I found one, though he charges $190/hr plus $3.4/mile on top of that. Wondering if anyone has resources for mechanics who may be more affordable. Also surrounding areas of San Jose, Sacramento, etc in case I find buses out there.

Ouch! $190 an hour!? Must be "Bay Area" pricing. Top tier diesel techs here in the Houston area run $80 to $100 max.

The good ole’ Bay Area is indeed super pricey. I feel like $190/hr is top end though. Regular mechanics might be closer to $120/hr which is more what I’m looking for. Honestly more having a hard time finding anyone who can do it. The guy who quoted $190/hr is the only one I’ve found so far.
