Howdy folks. I'll explain the issues I've been having but first I would like to see if anyone has heard this sound before and if so what issue were you having. The sound occurs as I'm making the turn and I have no clue where it's coming from.

Here's the video

Can't really here anything in the video.....
The sound starts at 14 second mark and continues until 19 seconds. There's a brief pause and then the sound kicks in again from 20 seconds to 23 mark, another brief pause and then from 25 to 27.

At first I thought it was a wheel bearing but ran it through googoo translation. It's saying that it "isn't a box truck and wants to be a bus."

It is tricky to hear, but if it's the 'thunk-thunk-thunk' sound, while turning, it could be a front wheel bearing. Could try putting the mic in several different locations, ie, one time near the front right, one of the front left, one outback, that sorta thing. Could maybe even be wheel rub, but perhaps a fender liner is falling down.

Would anything going wrong with the transmission cause that type of sound?

We need higher quality sound to give high quality ideas. :)

Hmmm... Can't say for sure. The only experience I have of a failing transmission is in an automatic, it's sudden, catastrophic, and comes without warning. However, in my rally car, which is a manual, the synchros are starting to go. It doesn't make a noise, but it's hard to get it into second, from either direction, 1 to 2, 3 to 2, etc. Judging by the video, it looks like you're having a little struggle getting it into a gear. Has that been typical?

Also, another thought, on my aging Xterra, the front sway bar usually loosens up every year or so. I know it's time to tighten the bolts when I hear it start to jutter over bumps and the like. I always use this time as a reminder to grease the front end as well (very scientific). I would get under the front end with a crowbar and move things about in the steering areas (front end off the ground, jack-stand supported) and if it's like a ball joint or something similar. I'm assuming it's not a 4x4?

At the 14 mark you are not turning but it's unknown if you are engaging the clutch. Loudest at 19, 21 and 25 seconds. Sounds like a pulley or something rotating off center. Also sounds like rubbing that happens only at certain vibrations.

I don't have any trouble getting it into gear or having it stay in gear, but if I mash on the gas too hard the engine will not respond (increase in rpm's but no increase in speed) so I have to ease off the accelerator and give it gas real slow in order to engage each gear except 1st. I think my clutch is OK. I put it into 3rd and let go of the clutch and it stalled.

I used to be able to engage the clutch and slowly release as I'm giving it gas, now I have to engage the clutch and release it quickly while I slowly (very slowly) give it some gas. I can no longer WOT in any gear accept 1st and I'm hearing this sound all of a sudden. You're right tho, I'm not actually turning at the 14 mark, but I did just engage the clutch to put it in 2nd, so I'm guessing it may have nothing to do with turning at all.

You mean the engine DOES respond by reving up, yet the bus does not speed up? That's slippage of something....almost for sure your clutch.

A weak clutch will first slip in the highest gear and highest HP level. As the clutch continues to fail, it will slip in lower gears and less power.

I thought if you stall in 3rd that meant the clutch was still good?

Throw out bearing will make some weird sounds when they start going bad...but engine revving and not going faster...maybe your clutch is a bit worn out too!

Wow...i just had the clutch & flywheel replaced like 5000 miles ago (back in June 2022)... maybe they didn't do a good enough job?

No offence intended, but if you don't immediately know the clutch is slipping when the engine revs and the bus doesn't accelerate, it's highly possible as the operator of the clutch...you have damaged it.

Good point. I hope I didn't damage it but maybe I did. I learned how to drive stick from a video game called American Truck Simulator. One thing it could not simulate though is clutch bite because there was no way to feel that through the pedal system. Anyway I burned out the original clutch (bought the truck used in 2019 with 130k miles) and I did adjust my clutch work after getting a new one (I stopped holding the clutch in at red lights) but something tells me I may have been holding the clutch in too long when switching gears, but I'm not sure. Usually I would engage the clutch, give it some gas slowly release the clutch while slowly pressing the accelerator until the gear engaged...does that sound like proper clutch work?

Also is the clutch going out the only thing that will cause the engine to rev, but not accelerate? What about fuel pressure and or delivery?
