Ok, so I have a 2002 Bluebird All American with 114000 miles on a 5.9 24V Cummins that I have done a full conversion on. I am not sure if my question have already been answered down the way somewhere because I got three kids and not a whole lot of free time, so if so I do apologize. Alright so first my bus has a 55 mph gov on it and I am wondering how to bypass it. I am not sure if it is mechanical or computer driven. 2nd when we were running last summer in the heat my bus when it got to a certain temp it would sound like a waste gate or something opened up and released a bunch of air and then it would lose all power and I would have to stop for a min. After a couple of mins it would cool back down past this certain temp and I could drive again. That is the best way I can describe it I am still learning diesel motors and there seems to be plenty to learn. 3rd I would like to get more RPM's out of this motor and more power and top end, is a chip my only option? On the interstate going 55 is scary enough but taking on big hills and slowing to35 or 40 MPH will really make a person pucker up when you see the Semi's baring down on you. Would the gov delete help with this? Can this be done with just an install by a tech or do I have to buy the chip. If its just a downloaded install does anyone know of a person that has such software? I know that this motor can make good power I just don't know what is the biggest bang for my buck. Like I said I have 3 kids and a wife so money for me to spend is lets say limited. Thanks for any help and education you guys and gals can provide. I think that is all I got for now, thanks again BigKevo:Thanx:

It's definitely electronicly locked. You'll need to go to a dealer to pay to unlock it. Roughly a $400 unlock.

I'm not sure if you can use a nexiq on it I believe you can and with Godmode servicemaxx unlock it. I think the software works on a 2002, but someone chime in. I wouldn't go the nexiq route unless you can obtain the Godmode Servicemaxx. but it would be about $100 cheaper to do yourself and you'd be able to diagnose a lot of your issues in the future.

also depending on your transmission. It could be gear locked. I think most 2002's and newer though have a Allinson 2500 or 2000, potentially a 3000.

So before I saw your post I went ahead and bought a Edge EZ programmer and I am still trying to get it hooked up. Have you or anyone you know of put one of these on their bus? I was told this should bypass the gov issue but I am unsure if it will and what the directions say I should do for a 2002 dodge seem a little off for my 2002 Bluebird. Have not been able to find much on how to install this on a bus, but I am still looking any info at all would be great. I have not heard of this Godmode servicemaxx but will for sure look more into it. Thanks for the info, BK

I believe the only way for EZ programmer to work is to buy a Dodge truck. Also the servicemaxx is for Internationals only.

The needed connection point, which may be by your left knee when sitting, is round and should have 9 holes. You need a heavy duty truck RP1210 adapter such as THIS which is cloned and has some hacked software like Cummins Insite, which you need. Beware that it is very sensitive and needs to be used with an old operating system such as windows 7. I just bought my second one because the first just stopped working. You may be able to use it on win 10 but never let it update, IDK.
You could get THIS which is a better unit, but no software.

The limiter can be reprogrammed and give you much higher speeds which will depend on your transmission and rear end configuration. The TC2000's I have all were reset and reach over 75mph.

Go to Bluebird and enter your vin or body number to pull up available info on your bus such as serial #'s for the engine or trans..
Go to Cummins to register your engine serial number and ALLISON to request an acct for the trans.

The noise you hear is probably the fan cooling fan kicking on. Sound pretty loud since you are pretty much sitting right on top of it. If you have one of the plastic surge tanks, keep a watch for it cracking.
