New and old members please take the time......

Hi all, newly moved to VA after 5ish years overseas. Reading and learning heap; many thanks. Interested in finding a dognose shortie that my family of 5 can use to explore the USA now that we're back.

Congrats Sourpickle! Great engine/trans combo! I have two buses and a truck with the 7.3 (T444E). I don't have that trans but it has two overdrives I believe.
Thanks! Yeah, I have been very pleased with the combo. I can actually gain a little speed going uphill! LOL

Hello

Thank you for letting me join the forum. I live in Ky right now but looking to move back to Fl which is where I am from. I am fairly new to bus life. I only do it part time right now but who knows what the future holds.

Hi I’m looking to see if there is metal between the interior metal skin and the exterior fibreglass body in a 2010 GMC micro bird

Wondering if I should take the skins out before insulating.

New member here. My name is Glenn but my user name is ghostrider. I haven't started a build but have been visiting the site for several months now and have already made a couple of post.
I am not sure that I am going to start a build yet because of my age. I have a chance to buy a 1969 Chevrolet C60 bus from a friend. It has been sitting for many years and is a gas rig but the price is very right but I do not have a place to work on it except in the hot Texas sun so I don't know if I want to tackle it. To it's credit it has had some work done to it many years ago to create a deer hunting vehicle, so it could be lived in now but not very comfortably. My main concern is getting into the middle of it then having to leave it to someone else to make the decision about which way to go. It will definitely have to have a diesel engine as the 366 is not suitable for continuous highway operation. I will keep the site posted.

Thanks for explaining the rules a bit! What’s up everyone I’m from North Carolina and looking to learn some cool shizzzzz

Looking for my perfect project bus

Hello everyone! My name is Kristin. I"m so excited to be part of this community. We have a growing family of ten. My four youngest are 5 and under and we have outgrown our full sized van. There just isn't enough space for everyone plus the stroller and groceries! We are currently looking for the perfect full sized bus to use for our vacations and around town driving. I may sound excentric but I typically only go out once or twice a week and love the idea of going around town with the schoolie!

Hi y'all! I'm new here. Have yet to even introduce myself but while glancing gffrom the start the title told me to read this!

As one who loves words (hence my name..buh..couldn't come up with anything clever but for the record friends call me Blondie)
Anywho...I really appreciate this thread and just wanted to add...in person you'd be amazed at how much we subconsciously read body language. For example "Hi! How are you today?" Can be answered with "I'm fine" or "I'm fine." Can't tell any difference there can you? But if you saw a smile, head up with a hug or handshake you'd "hear" "I'm doing fine! Really good..." but if you saw hunched shoulders, looking down with a sad face along with an "I'm fine" <sigh> that would be an entirely different response. Yes? So text is often hard to discern, ESPECIALLY if you barely know the person. Plus people tend to be much more bold when "anonymous " haha, I don't talk nearly as much if I don't know you! And some can be downright forward. Add we all come from different areas, cultures you name it.

So as a note.. I'm very sensitive and my feelings get hurt easily. 😁 Seriously! LOL

Nice to meet you!

Hello community! Pretty new to all this and boy oh boy did we choose a doozy to try this out! We got an already converted skoolie that had been sitting for at least 3 years before we got it so it was already in need of an out of TLC. Well, things happened and for four years the bus became a dream we would wax poetic about fixing up and living free to go where we choose and when. Luckily, we have been able to give time and energy to our project recently and are excited! It belonged to a friend of my neighbor and came with no knife. After a lot of study, dead ends, and eventually gmc telling me I would have to work with one their archivist to figure out what I have, we are ptretty sure it’s a 1968 GMC sm6500., dog nose. It came with some gaudy woodwork from the 70’s, a full tub, regular fridge, , etc.. it was a mess for sure.. it we’ve gutted it and should be able to do some nice things to make it livable and comfortable. I’m hoping we’re going to be able to get her running and ready to be a home to our family soon.

welcome.
after 5 post you can post pictures.
we all like pictures and I particularly like the older stuff.
show us what you have and other members can help ID it and or confirm what you have.

Hello! Excited to be apart this community! Im looking at buying my first Skoolie and look forwarding to hearing some advice from those more seasoned! Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find a mechanical and or Skoolie Inspection checklist, maybe something you might use when you're looking at buying a used (partial or fully converted) bus? Rust, rpm's at idol, looking at gearing on axles etc!

Also any suggestions on where to buy a manual on the bus if it's not included? Maybe eBay?

Hello! New to this forum and am looking forward to learning more about the schoolies and beginning a conversion of my own.
I am experienced with toy haulers/travel trailers, their maintenance and repairs. I have a background in old house updates with construction, plumbing and electrical workings. So feel I have a fairly decent foundation to build upon!

Welcome RachealDale39 and Kraigk. Looking forward to seeing what you'll be doing.
