New Bus - Naming Question

Hello from the Great White North . After much research, I found myself a fun bus for traveling and hiding out. I think I did okay - picked up a 2010 E450 accessible bus from a small city fleet with only 60,000 km (under 40,000 miles). Conversion is at about 75% and I'm heading out on the road with the remaining projects to be done while I travel. Currently working on getting a partial bus wrap, and trying to find out if there are any protocols in naming my Skoolie. I have a list of potential names, but not sure where to find out if they are already used. Is there a registry, or does it matter whether there is duplication out there???

Welcome and that's awesome!

On the Registry (find it in the black ribbon across the top of the page), use Advanced Search and type in "TBD" for bus name. You'll find a bunch of them, including mine... ;>)

So to answer your question, your username "NotThatKaren" must be unique, but your bus name does not. Also - you can change your bus name, you cannot change your user name (without admin intervention anyway).

On the metaphysical level, I'm waiting for my bus to make it's name apparent for me.

Thanks AlphaHare. I'm trying to make sure I go with a name that I can keep, as I'm going to have a graphic printed and put on the top front like a city bus banner. Leaning into Runaway Bus, although online searches bring up an awful lot of accidents .

bus name

aint nobody gonna be able to "take away" the name of your bus. we named our bus GYPSY, there has to be at least another hundred buses with the same name . whatever name you want, is the name you can choose.

Except, I’d probably stay away from “trump” or “trump tower” or anything like that …. It’d probably get you sued for trademark infringement…

It's like naming a boat; use what you like, because it doesn't actually matter.



There's easily a dozen boats with repeated names, and no one really cares unless they're in the same port.

And/or encourage some truly epic keywalking. Probably best to avoid love/hate markings because a bus conversion is already too much for most people.
