I am getting ready to convert my "new" bus into a RV/toy hauler. It is a 1990 international school bus. It was a 66 passenger bus. I have no idea what engine is in it, or trans. Can anyone help me. I do know it is a 3800 model international. It has a navistar engine in it, big inline 6, and it has a turbo and intercooler. The transmission is a 4 speed. Next question is it has 9r20 tires on it, 10 lug. Are they split rims, because they look like one piece? They are tube type, and I don't see a why to split the rims. I am also thinking of putting some 11r22.5s on it, do you think they will fit, or at least in the back? Right now it cruises right at about 65-68, and trying to get a little more, and or bring the rpms down a little. Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW is $250 a good deal for 6 22.5 rims with decent tread 11/22.5 Goodyear 5159s?

Went and got the 22.5s. They have goodyear G159s on them. 4 have some tread above where they are regroovable, and the other two(look like front by the way they are worn) are to the regroove marks. I will probably buy two new fronts and find someone, or try myself to regroove them. Thanks for the info on the trans, I will have to get under there and look.

Yea, I was kinda bummed about the tires not being in as good of shape as desribed, but I drove almost 400 miles round trip, so I figures, I an only into them about 300 bucks, cheaper than the cost of rims. I may just put the 22.5s in the back for now, and keep the 9r20 up front since they are almost brand new. I will just carry a spare for both since I have both now.
