I am located in north central Florida, we have not purchased our Bus yet, but have been hunting high and low for the right one. We can't wait to get started.

I have a friend who may be selling a pretty nice RE Thomas fairly cheap this year.

You're more than welcome to come check out our roof raise in progress sometime if that floats your boat.

We want to set it up for future full time traveling. Raised roof, etc... Hoping to find one with a DT466 or 8.3. My family owns a heavy truck and RV repair shop, so I can handle most repairs. Just need help on the wood working side.

We went up ten inches.
Modest by most folks standards, but looks and feels like its gona be perfect for me!

Haven't measured the overall vehicle height, but I've got 85" inside before flooring and ceiling.
Going super high has many disadvantages if actually traveling a lot of miles.
I almost stopped at 8".

I know Summerfield really well. We bought a place in Lady Lake in the late 80's. There wasn't much to "the villages" back then.
My welder, Eddie, lives in Summerfield. I went to HS in the Shores.

So tell me more about that Tuck/RV shop, if you don't mind.

We always seem to working on the "weird" stuff, besides heavy trucks, trailers, forklifts, conveyor systems, as well as cars and pick ups. This week I have a 1948 Mercury, couple IHC trucks, a couple F450's, Freightliners, two RV's, and a Zimmer kit Car in the shop for repairs. We have been getting into a lot DPF deletes lately. Seems we buy more computers than wrenchs lately to work on these things.

You sound like the guy I need to come see when I get ready to stuff a DT-466 & MD-3060 into a '48 International pickup....

+1 on your repair shop.. i dont have the facilities to do my own maintenance.. so im always looking for someone to do my oil changes, lube, brakes, etc...

I may also be looking for someone to do the Heavy hitting mechanical part of an allison 2000 to replace a 545 if i score this wrecked bus in a couple months like i think I might..

im in st pete (and columbus ohio), but I go up to the orlando area and also over to the east coast of the state quite a bit..

Hey Chris, you probably know this, but just in case...If you find a deal on a 2000...make sure to take EVERYTHING attached to it. Shifter (complete)...all harnesses, TCM, TPS...even the dipstick. Rounding up all the "extras" up can cost as much (or more) than a working tranny.

Good luck & go for it. Piece O' cake to swap out if you have all the parts. Just a chop on the driveshaft is more than likely all it will need.

I've got a **** of a gremlin. My 98 Amtran CE 3800 has some crazy malfunctioning electrical components. The right wiper stays on if the engine is running. The stereo and cruise control only work once per trip. The pa works sometimes, sometimes not. I want all the stuff not essential to run the thing taken out and the wiring cleaned up a bit. The interlock and buzzers eliminated, all that jazz.
Lemme know if this is something yall wanna tackle.

I just dealt with a Van that had electrical gremlins... a 2010 Dodge.. ..turns out the fuse box in that van is controlled by the computer... and it was losing comms to the computer... when that happens every circuit in the van goes bonkers....

the guy replaced that expensive fuse box.. and his crazy expensive computer... the issue ended up being when I got into it that the wiring harness had chaffed from a mis-installed grommet.. was shorting the comm wires to ground intermittently..

all i can say is Working on Vans is a PITA!!.. and im glad i have a little body...
