Hello everyone, new to the site. Recently purchased a 2001 Amtran school bus. I have a few questions. Do you need to repurpose the title from bus to RV? If so why? Next question, who will carry basic liability insurance in Texas. USAA won't, Progressive won't! Thanks

Do a search here of "titles" and "insurance", many active topics on the subject. Many insurance companies will not insure a "school bus", but will insure it as an RV if 4 of 6 requirements are met to consider it an RV. Easiest solution for most is to get a "commercial for personal use" policy while it is a bus, then change the title after conversion and register it as an RV. The same requirements to consider it an RV apply to both insurance and title registration in most states.

We have our bus insured in Texas through State Farm. (Mostly converted already, not sure if they will insure unconverted) Find a local agent and they should be able to help...
