New to me: 2018 Lion Electric C School Bus

just saw on ebay LG Chem Lithium Ion Battery Pack second hand for $8,290 or best offer. that would put you past the 100 mile mark.
Great to hear of your endeavors. Keep us informed.

Hi all!

Unexpectedly, I am the new owner of a 2018 Lion Electric C School Bus! Woohoo! I'm in the process of learning all I can about her. Also looking for suggests on online EV communities that might be useful? Also hoping to find folks who have some experience with Medium/Heavy Duty EVs!

For those interested:
I found her on GovDeals and she's currently in Sacramento, CA. Built in Quebec, Canada in 2017. She has four (out of a possible five) battery packs for a total 105kWh capacity and a real-world range of about 70 miles (yeah, I know). Recharging via a Level 2 19.2kW charger will take between 6-11 hours. Basically, she's fairly new with only 10,500 miles on the odometer. Apparently, I got the one (out of a dozen or so) that got the most use because it was the one with the least issues. They're getting rid of them because they need much more range due to the area the school district covers. These things were very expensive new so I had a hard time resisting, even though the real-world range isn't very much. I may be crazy. We shall see! lol

Looking forward to your suggestions, thoughts, and questions! Most of all, looking forward to joining this great community!!

I'm thinking if you are parked and charging you won't need to find a spot to park overnight if you time it right, cops won't run you off.

Good luck!

Highest & Best Use

An electric bus might be profitable when used in conjunction with a vending business. (Shaved ice...) A "green" bus is it's own attraction.

While the range is limited. You have a marketing advantage with zero emissions. Possibly offering exclusivity to indoor venues, enclosed spaces and environmental conscience events.

Several of our members use their buses as income producing machines. Surely, they could offer insight into the strengths & weaknesses of a zero emissions platform. You might even start a new thread, to capture the attention of commercial use skoolies.

I'm excited for you. There's a little bit of Hope & Faith hyped into electric buses. The market awaits.

Used Pacifica 2.6kWh 60V modules x 12 modules for $8900.

Call it 31kWh at 60V for $9000 or $290/kWh@60V

Don't know diddly about these batteries but I wouldn't plan on taking out more than 80% at a time. And the faster they're used, in my experience with other pouch cells, the hotter they get.

Fire would ruin your day. I remain an interested observer.
