Hello to all!
We are new skoolie owners (four days). We traded up from our T1N 118 Sprinter by necessity (it was totaled :? due to someone taking a u-turn across our lane).
While I loved the shorty/low roof Sprinter, I am happy we were able to upgrade space to a 5-window bus. The bus is a 1998 E350 7.3L (from Girardin). It was maintained by the same mechanic for the past 25 years. He worked for the school district and bought the bus when it was retired six or seven years ago. We may be able to hire him as the bus's mechanic now that he himself is retired. The reason for selling this bus? He didn't need two (he kept a taller roof short bus). Fortunately, we aren't tall people.
Eventually the bus will tell us its name but for now "The Bus" will do.
The bus is a nearly blank slate. The interior is mostly empty (4 seats remain adapted to make 2 single bunks). There's a small counter/cabinet in the back and the exterior has had the flasher deletes and decals removed. It's perfectly fine for camping/beach trips now. We'll be taking the renovations slowly. We both have definite ideas of what we want but they aren't always the same. There will be discussions.
I want to do some things before the rainy season starts (no garage, sadly). The bus will be primarily for shorter trips (I'm not yet retired) and a longer jaunt during work's slow season.
I've been scrolling through the build threads (TheArgoBus in particular). I'm making lots of notes so I can ask good questions.
