Hi, I'm looking for some information and can't find it. I think it would help if there was a section dedicated to Electrical Systems. There is already a section dedicated to alternative fuels and a separate section for mechanical/drive trains. There should be one dedicated for electrical questions.

These are just threads under the general topic of bus conversion. "Mechanical and Drivetrains" has its own topic or collection of threads. Alternative fuels apparently gets two separate topics under "Alternative Fuels | Electric, Propane, Wood Gasification, etc." and "Veggie Oil | WVO | Biodiesel | SVO".

If "Electrical Systems" had its own topic section, then people could post their own questions and everything would be easier to find. You could even have sub sections for 12v, Solar, 110v etc.

I think learning to navigate through this site is part of the skoolie conversion adventure.

protip: use google to search by "site:skoolie.net electrical"

If that's the answer, then let's get rid of all of the topics and have everything in a single general dumping ground. That just doesn't make sense. Conversions have a few general topics that, if separated out to their own areas, would make it easier for everyone just beginning this journey.

Here are a few I can think of off the top of my head and I haven't done more than start to think about this:

1. Where to find a bus (peoples inputs into their search for a bus, things to watch out for, personal experience with vendors, etc)
2. How to title a bus (there are 50 states and each one has different rules). Implications for insurance and licensing requirements depending on the type of title (Bus, Private Bus, RV, Custom Vehicle, Modified Vehicle, etc.)
3. Insurance
4. Mechanical Systems (this could be broken down into sub-topical areas for Engines, Suspension, brakes, air systems, other)
5. Electrical (this could be broken down into sub-topical areas such as DC systems, AC systems, solar systems, other)
6. Plumbing
7. Conversion projects (broken down into the sub-topical areas of skoolie, bus and small bus conversions as these already exist)
8. DIY and How-to's
9. Alternative fuels
10 Waste system alternatives (black water vs composting vs incenerator systems)
11. Going Green with Repurposed Materials (could be part of the DIY section)

If not a total redesign, at least add a dedicated section for posting electrical questions. This will make it easier for people to find information and learn from the experts and it will also make it easier for the experts to follow their areas of expertise to see new questions that they may know the answer to.

Pappy is right.
The electrical threads for AC and the other for DC were created by Les Lampman.
They both say "under construction"

And both have become a dumping ground for electrical questions.
Not a "tutorial" as claimed in the titles.

They are not "how to" threads, they are "ask in here" threads.

You wouldn't need to move the old posts. Just start a new sub forum for electrical questions and add a note or comment stating that the Electrical sub forum was established on x date and that older posts exist in other sub forums. Recommend searching these other forums prior to starting a new thread.

also to add this

back when the original website started this was a place for people to gather and discuss builds and ideas

if you read this :

This is the start of the new "How To" section...Under Construction!

and notice date...circa 2004 it was used as a placemark

9 months later a newbie to site asked a question, it was pretty much dead until 2012 when people started to ask questions

So a name change may be in order to not confuse people

The main point is that the AC and DC threads started by Les are just that...threads. They are not a forum where new threads can be started, followed and organized.

After some mulling over, we are going to add this section and also a couple of more. You will see some content being shuffled around in the next few days so thanks for your patience as we rearrange the 'furniture'. :)

can you have them look into the picture upload problem also, thank you

What picture upload problem? What sort of error message do you get and what sort of device are you using?

I tried with both chrome and IE to upload a png file. Size is 19.3 kb and 726X721pixels. All that showed up in the post was the tiny icon that indicates a missing file. I converted it to a jpeg with the same results. No error message, just the icon. When people clicked on it, they got nothing.

I click on the attachments paperclip icon and then click on choose file in the manage attachments window. I browse to the file and select it. Then I click upload. I get a message saying that the file is uploading. Then I get a new window saying database error. Here's the message:

The School Bus Conversion Resources database has encountered a problem.
Please try the following:
Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
Open the www.skoolie.net home page, then try to open another page.
