Greetings skoolie.net,

Just a friendly hello since I finally made an account.

Nice forum with a great bunch of members from what I've seen. I've been "lurking" for a few weeks. Just stumbled across the place while making our latest trip across the country.

We were returning from vacation in Montana (where my family lives) to our home state of Indiana (where my wife's family lives), and daydreaming about taking an entire comfy home on wheels with us someday. That last motel may have had something to do with it. Or rather, it was the urine soaked carpet and the cute little basket on the wall next to the toilet with rags for, as the sign on it said, "dirty jobs!" Yeesh.

I'll try to fill out some info in my profile soon. We don't have a bus and haven't committed to actually doing this yet, but it seems appealing to me.

Looking forward to learning and helping each other get where we're going!

Welcome to the site. Where in Indiana are you? We are in Lafayette and just started our skoolie.

Thanks T-Bolt! Unfortunately, nowhere near you. Close to Evansville down here in the southwest corner of the state.

I've been watching your bus thread, keep up the good work!

Looking for the bus of my dreams still. I'm leaning toward one very similar to what T-bolt found. There's an IC RE with DT530 on midwest transit(kankakee). However, maneuverability of a standard dog nose bus is also appealing due to the potential for off-highway driving. Any advice from those who have driven an RE? How likely is it to get stuck where the FE bus wouldn't? We're looking at western Montana dirt roads in the future.

Also the irony of buying a piece of scrap from the rust belt and bringing it out west is not lost on me, lol. Anyone want to drive me a CO bus here? I've got a nice batch of beer brewing for Christmas!

The sister bus to mine is still available at Midwest Transit in Whitestown stock# 185380. It has AC and the Webasto heater.

Yeah I'll keep that one in mind. Looks like it may be priced a bit high for me, probably mainly due to the AC which I'm not convinced will be practical in a conversion.

Speaking of impractical, I love the way this bus on govdeals looks:

Totally not what I need, but wow it's a good looking rig!

No we're actually a bit a north of E-ville, but it's the biggest city near us so that's what I figured people would recognize.

I guess we should go to that Greyhound depot in a couple weeks eh? I'll send pics if I can drag my wife there. :)
