No maintenance records, how to find them via VIN number?

I know carfax is pretty good for consumer vehicles. Every one of my kia's oil changes showed up from Valvoline Instant.

I'm told the auction I'm interested in going to does not have any of the school district's maintenance records for school buses and never does.

So is this just an SOL situation or is their another way of finding out prior to bidding?

It's not uncommon for school districts to not release maintenance records when they sell a bus. It's always worth a call to district's fleet manager to see if they'd be of any help, but if not you just have to assume that "everything is due today" and establish your own baseline.

It's a great opportunity to get to know your bus, hands on.
