Hi All,

What is the dimension of a typical OEM ceiling panel when laid flat?

My guess would be 9+ feet across assming a 7-1/2 bus and the hoop’s curvature?

My thought was to install nailers crosswise to each loop and then find fiberglass panels for a more commercial look for the ceiling. (After sprayfoamimg of course).

Just an idea🙂

Might be different for your bus, but when we made 5mm plywood ceiling panels for our International/Amtran bus, it came out to less than 8 feet. The sheets came in standard 4'x8' size and we ended up cutting several inches (6, maybe 8?) off the end of each. Our bus has a beveled panel where the ceiling and walls meet that houses the lights and some speakers....so this eats up some of that room. If you're removing those panels anyways, though, it could very well be right around 8'. My advice, always, is to measure twice before buying any materials or equipment you plan on putting in your build.

Wow thanks Drew,

I figured 8ft would not be enough with the roof bows. That will create a lot more material options.

My International measures 8'2" from the top of the rail to the top of the opposite horizontal rail. You may have to extend your wall an inch on each side.
