Day 2 of my skoolie adventure

-Removed the bunk beds previous owner installed to accommodate 4 people.
-General cleaning
-Quick check and approval from diesel mechanics (I forget what its called but you can see leaking from a wheel, fluid checked-confirmed low but will survive short trips until they can fit my bus in their schedule)

-Wiring is starting to bother me.. switches for the signs and lights don't work and I'll need to figure out how to clean all that up
-As far as the layout.. endless possibilities makes it difficult to make a final decision which keeps me up at night but so far I love it. It puts a smile on my face

-I realize I didn't get a fancy DT engine but I think I'll live..
-I read somewhere not to buy a skoolie someone else started but I like the fact that I don't have to deal with a bunch of bus seats rotting in the yard
-Previous owners installed the flooring, rear and front cameras, fresh interior paint.

-Looking into window tinting.. leaning towards the fancy thermal tinting from concord: Auto 2 Ply HP Premium Charcoal 5% | Concord Window Films
I think it might be worth the investment

-My idea is to travel around the country and eventually determine where I would like to live permanently however its not a priority in my life.

To be my avatar (I was super excited to get the bus so when I calmed down it was too dark and now I have a spooky night pic):

Welcome! --- Looks like just the right amount of "conversion" to me. Nothing badly done to tear out and all the seats taken care of. As for the wiring...I've never seen a Skoolie that did NOT have an excess of scary wiring so that is no surprise.

Best of luck on the build and keep the pix coming.

Looks like the Herculean part of the conversion has already taken place. You've got a head start on a fantastic beastie.

Debating whether or not I want to pull all the insulation.. it looks acceptable from the 2 panels I've gotten under.. opinions?

I say pull it. The batting has a worthless R value and is a haven for entrapping crud for mold to feast on. And I'm also pulling out mine

Pull it. It is basically a huge sponge trapping moisture and inviting mold. Pull all the panels and use spray foam or poly board.

PULL IT!!!!! Look at my build "Heavy Fuel". Even in an arid area of the country there are mold issues with this junk. I'm five months in and I'm STILL pulling this yuck out of my bus! Mold is a VERY SERIOUS issue especially with your lungs. Fiberglass should be handled like the Haz-Mat it is! Rubber gloves to the elbow, full respiration protection (i.e. filtered mask), goggles, and do not leave any skin area exposed. I hate this stuff.... All it really amounts to is a mold trap anyways.

Motion passed. Fiberglass is coming out.

I really appreciate you folks, it's easy for me to convince myself to do the wrong thing especially when it's just me talking to myself looking for the easy way out.
