What would you recommend if we're storing the bus through the winter and we changed the oil just before a 6,000mi trip? Should we change it when we open it up in the Spring before any short trips? We won't be taking any long trips for a while, so I'm wondering if the condensation build up would be a good reason to change it now or later?
My opinion? Fill the diesel tank fully, trickle charge the battery and make sure you're coolant is properly mixed. Then leave it alone until you plan on properly using it.
Starting and idling the engine, even on fast idle, will produce more condensation than just sitting there for the winter. You won't get condensation unless you have temperature differences and the ambient temperature is above freezing. Unless you're actually taking it for a drive I'd say not to worry about it.
When it's time to go for a drive do a full circle check and take it for a good drive.
