Only ON CL

Pretty obvious its someone who bought a bus and has no idea what they have. Probably some idealistic young lady's failed "tiny house" dream being dumped.

A lot of ads that I see like this are set up to capture email address to scam people or spam people. I have quit using Craig's List in my area because it's gotten bad and there have been a lot of reports of people being robbed and killed after making a connection on CL. A friend of mine sold his SUV to a person that responded to his ad. They paid him cash. Everything seem to be fine. It appeared they were a young couple just getting a foothold in life. When he took the cash, about $6000, to his bank, it turned out to be counterfeit. The $100 had been reprinted on $1 bills. It was on the news for a few days. I wish I would have come up with the money to buy before he sold it. It was a sweet like new '01 Chev Suburban that had just had a lot of work done on it.

I contacted the seller, it was a woman. She is clueless to what she is selling. I mentioned that I didn't think Thomas ever made a FWD bus or put V10's in them. She replied:
"Your are right. the title says Thomasville. I made a mistake,

Nani"

I think Thomasville is the city it came from and was titled to the Thomasville School system. I have requested pics so I can set her straight.

If you are concerned about completing a sale from Craigs List I make the potential buyer show me there current license and I will shoot a pic of the license and pic of them. If that makes them squirrelly, turn and leave.

:thumb: If I could turn loose of the money, I'd buy it if it was in good shape and running.

Thomasville?? If she ups it to a Johnsonville I'm in.

It's not running, needs a motor. She wants $1000.waiting on pics of it to see if it's worth towing home and finding a good motor for it. I wish my diesel mechanic didn't move to Ala.
I'd have to get it cheaper as it would cost $800 to tow it home. I really don't have room for one bus, let alone 2 of them.

An engine core is around $2500. A decent engine is 3500 and up.
To tow it and put another engine in it, you'd have spend enough to have bought a nice bus with no problems and save yourself all that hassle.
Scrap is probably around 1000-1500.

:thumb: :Thanx: Don't need the aggravation or the space taken, so I'll pass.
Now what's the average price of a rebuild on the existing engine?
The 10 cylinder engine intrigues me, waiting to see what it is. There's other parts on it I could use, doors, etc. But not to the tune of $1000 plus hassles.

If you do it, around 2-3 grand.
For a shop to do an in-frame on, say, a DT466 you're looking at around 6000-10,000 depending on the shop and how far you want to go with replacing stuff.

CB,

Did you notice the bus for sale or to be scrapped buy 1heartbus. Has the dt466 not sure if an E but he needs rid of it pronto. Might help your fix and other parts. Thread is Sad day or something to that affect.
Worth your time to speak to him I'd say.

I think its a 97, and I'd need a 99-2003. I *think*.
If I got a parts bus, I'd want another Allison 2000, and I'd want the same dash for parts. Although I'm not opposed to using the older, simpler metal dash.

I was thinking the whole motor, rad etc, alt wheels, tires whatever but not sure of bolting stuff right on but should be near identical.
Just wasn't sure you had seen it, didn't want you to miss a chance at parts.

The OP here is a 99, I'll post the pics when she provides them maybe you can use it, but towing to Fla. might be expensive without a Good Sam policy.. The one in MI is a 97.

Every Ford V10 I've seen with more than 100k miles on it had a rod knocking.

I'm not aware of any V10 diesel that would be possible for this bus, so I'd assume the lady selling it is wrong on one or both of those details. VW had a pretty cool V10 diesel but that was a couple years later.
