Opening mechanical doors from the outside (non-pneumatic) ideas?

Hello Skoolies,

I'm still in the thick of my conversion. I'm working indoors while my bus is outdoors. I just run her for a while to get things warmed up and get to work!

Problem: I've got to enter through the back every time. When there is snow, it can get dangerous and slippery aside from being a PIA.

Searched the forums for about 90 minutes. Just looking for some ideas.

My front door isn't pneumatic, but lever/push. Any ideas that do not compromise security? I want to keep the original doors/mechanism as much as possible.

There is a screen capture of the mechanics. It's not pretty, but exactly like mine. Anyone else solve this?

Thanks,
-Lewis

Hmmmm. Keep the mechanical look/feel, be secure and be able to open from exterior.

You need a 12v servo, actuator, solenoid type thingy-bob based on that picture taken with a potato.

Hey Rusty!
That's a great idea. I'm going need to do some data finding on strength and distance of the solenoid required etc.

Have you seen anyone actually do this?

Better pics/video.

Here are some better pics I took yesterday. I think Rusty has me on track? Any other suggestions?
