Thank you very much I really appreciate it. I can't wait to get on the road with it.

It's a great feeling to get close to the point of getting out on the road and enjoying all your hard work!

Yes, yes it is. The only thing holding us back now is funding. I invested most the available cash I had into the conversion so now we are just sitting here waiting to build the reserves back up so we can go. Also I still need to do maintenance on the bus before hitting the road which requires more funding :(

I am getting antsy!

Well I spent the first weekend in our bus. It wasn't what I had planned but kind of fun non the less. A buddy of mine blew the motor in is truck and used one of our friends shops to change out the motor. Of course he wrangled me into helping him. Anyway I drove the bus about 20 miles to the shop and we camped out in it all weekend so we could work on the truck and then just crash. Very comfy. My son Austin even made us bacon, eggs and toast Saturday morning in the bus. It was a nice little test run before our big trip in a week or two.

Well, I rolled the bus over a scale today... I have it registered as a motor home in WI with GVW 20,000. Drum Roll..... Weight without any passengers - 17,860! I will be pushing 20,000 fully loaded with full holding tanks and a full tank of fuel

I went ahead and got 26k plates to be safe....5-0 can be..ugh well....a pain in the arse in VA and Nc the main "other" states we go to...

As stupid as many things are in California, motorhomes don't need a weight certificate and registration doesn't require paying fees on a declared weight. I think my reg is about $150 per year. I know it's not as cheap as some states but its cheap enough. My pickup was about $600 per year.

I completed the maintenance yesterday. One step closer to heading on our maiden voyage. Planning on heading out on Thursday. Boy am I getting excited!

Thank you for the post GreyEagle! We made it to Oshkosh, WI and visited the EAA Airventure Museum. Really cool place. No issues on the trip there, it was only about an hour and a half drive, well other than when we first pulled out I made a corner and the fridge flew open and a gallon jug of water broke and dumped all over the kitchen floor (LOL). Luckily the water ran to the front, down the stairs and right out the door. No much to clean up :). Needless to say we now have Velcro holding the fridge door shut.

Here is a couple pics I had to share, my wife said it was a flying skoolie:

If it can open by a tug .... chances are it will come open on the road somewhere, sometime.......

They do make latches for stuff like that. Kinda like child proofing the bus.........

Enjoyed the pics, stay safe, have fun and enjoy the trip....

edited for spelling.... dumb computer

Had to post a couple pics of our first campsite with Farold. We are in Huntington, IN at Camp Timber Lake Campground. Nice facilities and didn't bat an eye when we pulled in with the Skoolie.

Should I be creating a new thread for our trip and leave this for any additions to Farold or continue posting here? Figured I would ask...

Hey traveline, You are only about 15 miles from me if you want to stop by for a visit.

Dick

That would be cool. PM me your address. I will be heading out of here tomorrow morning heading up to Corunna for a few days (aunts and uncles live there). It would be easiest if I stopped on the way tomorrow. Check out time here is noon. Will you be around?
