Im planning to move to Tampa woohoo! Only issue is finding a place to park. I'm an engineer aboard a ship so work has me away half the year. 6 weeks on 6 weeks off currently and I'd really like the option to have my tools and bus at my own residence to finish my build (30ft blue bird plus potentially 20ft trailer). Houses are pretty expensive let alone one with a lot big enough to park at and so is storage but maybe a house without the parking for a bus and separate storage lot would be cheaper than a big enough house lot? Does anyone have any suggestions, or familiar with the laws on parking at your residence assuming no HOA? Any tips or insights is greatly appreciated. I have heard conflicting things about different areas, st Pete, tampa, Clearwater etc and tampa says 10ft high x 26ft long is the limit for residential parking. Is this something thats actually enforced? I'd be trying to park behind the house if possible but a few that I like are corner lots and the bus would be visible. Should I be worried about my extra foot in height and 4ft in length? Thanks in advance

There's a user on here who was renting out spots to camp on and build in Florida, He's about 2 hours away from Tampa.

Start a conversation with user @DeMac . He may still be open to it.

Its complicated. Sounds like you are good for front yard up to 10 ft from the lot line if you cant fit on the side of your house. They do have awfully small size limits. I would recommend to post in the tampa reddit about enforcement about RV size limits in front yards. Big city like Tampa, i would make sure you fit in the character of the neighborhood and go for it.

In my city there is no size limit, but the code says 20ft from the lot line. Got a visit from the code inspector once and made her aware that i can park a bus in the front although i have a parking spot on the side.

Appreciate the advice, is there a skoolie reddit for tampa or just ask in tampa specifically? I think its not an eyesore compared to any other rv but I guess thats subjective. I can't afford to live in an uppity area as it is which I think people would be more likely to complain but I'm not really sure what to expect with a house inside city limits... I'm a country kid and the only times I've lived in big cities was in apartments. Do code inspectors just patrol around or really only come out for complaints?

They drive all over, and rarely through neighborhoods, but occasionally do and they mark everything they see. I got away for 1.5 years before one drove by and saw my bus in the driveway.

Thank you, Nikitis. 🫡
