Picking up my bus tomorrow. Just wondering what people have to say about this particular bus and anything I should keep an eye out for.

1992 International 3800, Ward body, DT-360 5.9L L6 180hp (360CID) engine, diesel, hydraulic brakes, 4x2 automatic transmission, GVWR Class of 26,001-33,000 lbs, 102,206 miles $3200

I'm a newbie. But I like the low milage.
Don't forget to add some pictures tomorrow ;-)

I have a DT-360 in my bus and Love it.. sure it doesnt have the power of the DT-466 but I drive the bus everywhere ...

my DT-360 gets its best MPG when kept at 2300-2500 RPM or so though it will max out under load at 2700 RPM.. on My bus that translates to 55 MPH.. though it will drive at 65 if I let the tach peg at 2700-2800 RPM..

dont get it hot.. if your temp gauge is running at 210 or above check your fan clutch.. the DT-360 is notorious for having viscous fan clutches that go bad and dont spin the fan blade quite fast enough under high temp conditions... I replaced mine it was easy..

the DT-360 is also quite easy to add an Air-conditioner compressor to..

Insurance

How are people insuring the bus before its converted over to and rv I need to get some kind of insurance for the drive home. I have talked to a handful of insurance companies and no one wants to cover a bus going into conversion. Do I need to tell them its just a bus and I'm using it to haul work materials around and then when its done being converted call them back and tell them its and rv now. Just reaching out to see what other have done to get this process accomplished. Thanks

I used progressive COMMERCIAL (not their consumer side).. and told them my bus is a bus for personal use and is staying a bus.. (which in my case it is)...

this will get you coverage while you convert and for many it sticks after conversion, for some they get cancelled after their title is changed to a motorhome.

it also varies in many states.. progressive seems to not always like to cover in certain states.. but the thing is while its insured through them its still a bus so you arent lyting t othem.. and its a bus for personal Non business use.. i didnt say much to the lady.. "my friends and i like going to IKEA and football games and stuff" i think is what I said when I got asked what my bus will be used for..
(which it has done those things...)

yea progressive has already turned me down and they put in a decline note so theres nothing I can do through them now even tho I already have two policies through them with different vehicles. I asked them why certain customers are able to get this kind of insurance through them and others are not and they just game me some run around answer of how they are just unable to provide me with that kind of policy no real answer no logic.

Well the sellers of the bus are driving it to my warehouse so that takes care of the insurance ordeal until its registered as an rv.

I called a few companies and they all either denied or didn't even know how to insure me.
I call my insurance agent from Allstate and he is insuring me as an RV. I should had called him first.

I have a CDL with P and S endorsements as well as a clean record so I'm sure that makes it easier as far as insurance goes.

really only if you are insuring it as a commercial vehicle for commercial use... what seems to really matter is the state people are in.. some states are just much easier to insure than others it seems...

why can i never upload pictures on this website it always gives me an error on the upload I'm using small jpeg files

dt= awesome.

Id say that's a good price on that low of mileage (or at least it would be in my area). The DT is an awesome engine too. I'm a 5.9 as well, but Cummins. I've got insurance through Progressive COMMERCIAL. Its not the same as the Progressive Auto. The auto division denied me, and i called right back to the other division, and no problem.. I insured as a bus for a personal use, I didn't even try dealing with the RV end of it.

Since it wouldn't let me post pictures to this thread I just uploaded them in a seperate album if any one wants to check out the bus
