plastic drum threaded bung fitting help needed

here is the odd ball "non thread"

I picked up a couple drums from work for waste tanks, since there were 2 big holes, unlike steel drums with one small and 1 big (both normal NPT).

problem is I can't find anything to thread into the "non thread" hole

I need to check and see if there is enough material to rethread it this week

any ideas?????????

Also too add:
1side is 2in buttress and the other side is actually 2in NPS (national pipe straight) which is different than NPT which is the taper thread version

So now to decide what to get and do, thinking of running 3in PVC from toilet to a 2in reducer at top of plastic tank

Just need to decide on angle or slope, to steep and water leaves poop behind, too flat and we have poop that don't slid with water movement

A clean out fitting at tank, good idea or bad?

Its' less than $10 so....what the hell

This is a on the road border disorder setup, along with mid night pee's etc

Are you permanently mounting the tanks? Or dropping them when full?

After mounting your tanks at about 5 degrees of tilt, (toilet fill hole will be the highest point when done) with the existing bungs in a vertical position from each other, mark a spot 6" by 6" half way down the drum at the now top, (was the side). Cut that square out with a saws all. Buy two 3" abs bulkhead fittings. Use the right size hole saw and cut out the top 2 hole. This is where you will install the first 3" bulkhead fitting, and this will be the one you connect the toilet to. At the opposite end ( used to be the bottom of the drum) as close to the bottom as possible while still having room for the Bulkhead fitting, cut one more hole with the hole saw. This will be your drain. Bottom 2" port gets permanently sealed. Tank venting is done either by installing a 1/2 bulkhead fitting, or T off the toilet connection between the toilet and the tank. Now to reseal your access hole, you need to sacrifice one drum to seal the rest. Using a spare drum ( you should have a few at that price) Cut a piece 10" by 10" out of the side with a saws all. This will be your patch for the access hole. Use some nice coarse sand paper and rough up your overlaps. Apply some good silicone, and screw down every 2" to get a good seal. For this you will need some number 10 coarse thread pan head screws.



3" ABS Bulkhead fittings.

that is actually what I thought about doing at first, figured people would say I was **** for that

only difference is, I plan to turn barrel 10/15* or so and use a buttress fitting for the vent and put the 3" fittings in fresh plastic (extra clean out holes if needed and vent etc

I need to get a few more barrels first, and cut up the barrel rack to make a mount

Bansil, any update on the barrell waste tank build?..... I've got 2 barrels myself to make my waste tanks from....just wanted to see how yours was going and if you had any ideas while building.....

Nope its been to cold,wet this winter to do much of anything...gotta get on it, going camping in a few weeks :shock:
