Plumbing a lift pump pressure gauge?

I have a 24v Cummins 5.9 engine, and am mildly spooked by the horror stories I hear of a bad lift pump burning up the injection pump.

Here's a photo of my fuel filter. It appears that they added an idiot light sensor (the conical widget with the green connector in the center of the image). Seems I ought to be able to put in a "T" fitting and run a line into the cab for a fuel pressure gauge. And that it could be done with the help of some brass fittings and some teflon tape from a well-stocked hardware store. And it seems, too, that a good time to do this would be while I was replacing the fuel filter.

Thoughts?

Bonus question: anyone know how the green connector comes off? It has a red slider thingy but retracting it doesn't help.

Think of the red slider thing as a lock. you have to slide it out before you can activate the lock to unlock the connector. Use an inspection mirror to see the underside or back side to get a better idea of what you have. some connectors you pinch or squeeze the connector to unclip it.. think of the connector as and oval shape, the lock tabs are on the sides of the oval closest together. Now put your thumb and for finger on the ends of the oval that are far apart. Pinch, trying to make the oval - round. pull out gently while wiggling.

I do not "know" this connector is this type. but it looks like it.

Did you ever get around to installing a fuel pressure gauge? I have the same engine and would like to install one also.
