Have a link for one? I checked and couldn't find anything less than around $700.

I've seen them on sale during big holidays. Yeah I think least expensive is 700 at the minute. Amazon has some too

Wonder if your slide out idea for window unit would work with the "outside unit" of a mini split. I sort of would want one of these but idk about keeping the unit outside at all times, I have a very large garage on our crown in the back, maybe I could make a slide out, I would open the doors, and slide out that part of the mini split, however idk anything about all those hoses, and connections , are they flexible enough and can they be moved back and forth ?

Aren't they all?[/QUOTE]

Apparently not this is the partial link from what Rawlings posted and ECCB said 12K btu 110valso.

My 12000 btu minisplits are 120 volt, my 18000 is 240 volt.

Each manufacturer is different you have to read the specs before buying.

Hi Christopher,

Have you plugged a kil-a-watt into either of them to see what the inrush current is?

There is no surge. Slowly ramps from zero since they are infinitely variable.

Mine are working well and I have run them on the road without problems for trips of 20 miles or so. Will see on longer trip soon.

Dick's been running them on his bus for a long while with no issues as far as I've heard.

I've been running the mini-splits for three years now. After the initial leak and a blown hose (my fault) have been trouble free.

We don't generally use them while traveling, I just don't feel the need. We did try it on the way home from the Busboys rally last year. Just running the front one it kept us quite comfortable until my Xantrex shut down because of high battery temp. My house batteries are mounted in the engine compartment. When I got home I put together a temperature controlled fan to draw outside air and blow directly onto the batteries but, haven't had an opportunity to test it.

My computer is in the bus from early spring until late fall and I probably use them more to take the chill of than I do for AC. The AC is mainly used when we are at a campground.

I recommend that you take the cover off of the condenser unit to make sure the lines are secured to not get any vibration. I did it on my rear one but already had the front one installed when I thought of it. It would have to be removed, so I will deal with it if it becomes a problem. There were a couple of places that I tied better. Mainly the condenser coil itself.

Overall I am quite pleased with them. I have tested with a kil-a-watt, for one unit, amps start off at about 2 and very slowly climb to about 7 which is the highest I saw. I have run both on a 15 amp cord but, it wasn't super hot that day.

Can anyone give me advise if its a good idea to put the external unit of the mini split inside the Crown Bus garage in the back, build some sort of slide out so when we need to use it, we open the back doors and slide it out, this way I don't have to add anything to hang out of the bumper, sort of don't like the way it looks in my opinion and also I am afraid of anyone trying to rip the thing apart and part with it. Would this be possible, or are the hoses and lines very stiff and can break if I slide out the unit over and over?

Not exactly what you want, but this might help give you some ideas.
