Possible Mid-Sized Project

Thanks.

It has been driven several hundred miles in the past 7 or 8 months, in at least two trips. At the moment, it has a starting problem - starts, barely, and dies. It has been sitting a couple months, so maybe the battery.

That being said, I don't think it's for me. If anyone is interested, I'll put you in touch with my friend. I believe it is about to be posted on Asheville Craigslist. It's actually in Marshall, NC.

As to the low miles -- I don't know how it could be correct. It would rack up almost 3000 miles driving from Oregon to NC, and it actually was used fighting fires in Oregon -- there are stickers for named fires.
One last con -- someone cut the wire for the brake lights.

I'd pass on that one too.

Oregon to NC is some tough terrain. I did Oregon to Ohio in a loadstar gasser siggt unseen andxthere was a lot of nountainness travel. You would incur a lot of the same till you got out of Colorado. Plus this time of year the weather can turn really bad really fast in the higher elevations .

I have no idea why they brought it from Oregon to NC before selling it, but what I'm saying is that the mileage on the odometer can't be right. (Maybe it hit one million miles?)

Oh I misread , I was thinking you would have to go to Oregon to pick it up. The mileage - it’s a real common thing for school busses to have their gauge clusters replaced due to failure . There are a lot of companies with refurb programs where they exchange them so you call up and they ship a rebuilt one, you send them yours , you keep the new one and have it overnight as opposed to a week or more to get yours repaired. Your odometer likely gets zeroed at that point . after that’s done is a sticker may be placed somewhere , often on the back of the cluster as to what the old one indicated. On newer electronic busses the computer keeps the mileage. In the event the computer goes bad , the new one will be programmed with data from the old, unless it goes complete DOA then they’ll program cluster miles into the computer.

interesting 2ft drop floor in the rear. That would make a nice garage space for your motorcycles.

Engine is a desirable one
Rebuilt trans, however unknown what it is.
new tires

I do not see outside rust, would need to look under it though. Looks like they ran out of paint on one side....

Interior, not my style, not done to perfection either.

I guess I see good bones and something to work with, or use as is for a bit then change interior to suit if it does not suit you.

Chances are in 91 it’s an MT643. I don’t believe they offered an AT545 on the 466 until the low spec 175hp 466e was introduced in 95/96. I may be wrong , the vin called into navistar would say for sure.

That's what I'm thinking, as to motorcycle/scooter.

It will need some cleaning up. Hopefully they're not including the junk in the sale.

Thanks to both of you.
