Problems with parking break

Hello,

i am David from Germany. We converted the school busses into partybusses in germany.

Now i have a problem with one bus. It is an International 3800 1999 year.

If i pull the parking break (Air Break) the bus rolls for 3-4 secons still it stand still.

What can this be? I already changed the switch/valve with the button where i pull the parking break 2032342C91

Adjust your brake shoes, inspect, clean, lube & adjust the cam adjusters?

i didn`t do this but i thought after 1994 all vehicles have automatic Slack/cam Adjuster ??

They might be automatics adjusters but .... why rely on it being good without performing some routine maintenance and inspection.... Never assume that automatic is an absolute operation/function. Gremlins can and DO get in the way of that plan!

If everything appears like it is operating like it should other than the bus just rolling, I would check the brake shoes themselves. Aside from being maybe worn out, what if they are soaked in oil and that oil has not appeared itself on the exterior of the tire?

No vehicle should roll when the parking brakes are applied!

Yes you are right, i will check it. What for valves are directly for the parking break? There other wich are only for the parking break or working with it?

My 1994 slack adjusters still require initial setting. There is a square item on the bottom. It switches the direction to tighten or loosen then. You want to tighten the side nut till tight while installed, then reverse and back it off a quarter turn. Then the rest is automatic.
