In a bit of a bind, because some neighbor got my shuttle bus towed. Apparently they were able to tow it because the insurance lapsed, and the out of state plates came back "dead".

Progressive quietly decided on March 19, 2025 to stop providing insurance to converted RVs.

Just a heads up to anyone who uses Progressive!

Also, what is a good alternative? Waiting on State Farm to get back. I live in PA.

State Farm will do commercial for personal use if it is not finished.

If the bus is finished they should be able to give you RV insurance.

They require proof it is finished. A simple adding of small blow mattress etc will not suffice, they like detailed pictures. Their underwriters are aware of that game.

If you have a roof raise, I wouldn't mention it unless asked, or if you have anything other than solar panels on roof they may not accept it.

I already have it as a motorhome on the title, I was just moving states and discovered I couldn't get coverage anymore under my old policy.

Have you tried Nat General, an allstate company?

Yes, just got off the phone with them. Unfortunately, it would take a few days, since they require photos of the conversion, and I'm currently stuck in a tow yard and it's Frrrrridayyyy!
They suggested getting insured as commercial thru Progressive for now. But I doubt that will work, since when they run my VIN it comes up as a motorhome now.

How about talking to a lawyer about suing your "neighbor" ?! For that matter, if you are moving next to them and not away from them, move again!

If you live in an HOA...well then just move...or become president of the HOA.

If the city towed you, without due process such as posting a notice or sending you a notice of violation, then they technically trespassed onto private property and removed (stole) personal property .
I would check into that....

I have had State Farm for 20 years....RV insurance and I gave them lots of pics and even dropped in on them at the office to show it off.....they were impressed....that is didn't look like the Partridge Family but but might have resembled a prison bus:ROFLMAO:

Progressive never, well not in the last ten years, covered converted busses. They will, through their commercial policies cover unconverted busses as, "commercial for private use". If you managed to slip your conversion under their wire, they just caught on and canceled you. If you shuttle bus is not yet converted, then you may still have an option, however, if they canceled you do to misrepresenting your vehicle they won't offer you a policy.

Even if your shuttle bus is titled and registered as a Motor-Home or RV, if it is not yet converted, they will cover it. Once it is converted they will no longer cover it.

I just payed the 12 month renewal on my 50k MH policy. I think the fact that it isn't technically a conversion may be a part of it.
