Project "Brutus"

Thanks! trying to figure out what I'm going to work on tonight. Think I'm going to box in a couple areas in front and trim. Time for it to not look like a work in progress.

Ok, to be honest, now I'm just showing off. This is the cutout from the piece I made yesterday. Turned it into a mounting plate for my air door release valve. Had fun with the belt sander and an abrasive bristle wheel, making it look purdy.

Plan "B" worked out better than the original plan. Gotta love that scrap bin gold.

Yup!!

Well, here's what I got done for today. Got the area above the door boxed in. It was tricky because of the angles, and I wanted to maintain the head clearance. Also put tongue and grove pine under the futon.

your interior looks great, do you have any photos of your bathroom area? i have some ideas how im going to set mine up, but i would like to see your as you have a Wayne as well.

Thanks!! This is old, as I have the walls up now, but it gives you the general idea. A 36" by 36" shower, and then the stool will sit on top of the wheel well. It's not ideal, but it'll work. No sink, we'll just use the one in the kitchen. Also, not using black tanks, I'm planning to use some sort of portable toilet. Or possibly an incinerating toilet.

I hate not being able to work on the bus. I am currently in Ohio for work, go home tomorrow, but actually don't even go home, just board another plane and fly to Sacramento (this isn't for work, though). There for a week and then come "home" only to turn around and fly to Atlanta for work for a week. Home for a few days, and then fly to Dallas to visit an incredibly close friend of mine (super excited about that one...my wife surprised me and just bought tickets and worked it out with my boss). Come almost home (just to the airport), rent a car and drive to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for work. My poor bus is going to sit for about 6 weeks. BUT, I am then done traveling for work. Had a meeting with my boss and let him know I had had enough. I've missed to much already and I'm not missing any more.

Haha...will do. Right now I am realizing it is safer to work on the bus than think about it. Thinking about it is expensive. I just emailed a company asking about recalibrating my pump to flow enough for 300hp, lol...

Well, I was home for a day and took my family, my parents, and my sister and brother-in-law and their kids for a ride in the bus. Been too long since I took it for a cruise!! Way too much fun :) Nothing new to report, really, except I made a decision on a generator. I have an old CCK 5.0 Onan that I didn't want to hassle with, but after pricing comparable generators, I'm going to get it running. It's a heavy beast, but will run 2 A/C units comfortably. Wish me luck...parts are hard to find :/ First things first...to find a service manual!

Check out the smokestack fourm for manuals it may take some searching but there is lots of info. If you cant find one post one the site with model serial # and spec # and someone will usually have one. :D Goodluck

Thanks and you weren't kidding!! Already downloaded a couple to get me started. So much info there!!

Do tell. I just put 700 miles and I'm determined to bump the HP at least by 75 horses and swap the 545 for a 643. What are your plans for the engine?

So far, I've turned up the pump as far as I can, advanced the timing to 19*, and straight piped it. I bought an intercooler out of a 6.0 super duty, but need to plumb it in yet. My future plans would be to have the pump sent in and recalibrated, and then install an HX40W turbo out of an 8.3 Cummins. I've also adjusted the governor, but I don't like spinning the **** out of it. I've considered propane, but not completely sold on it, yet. The company didn't answer me, they probably just laughed :)

Well, I now have even more motivation to get the bus done. Our landlord is putting the house up for sale! He's not screwing us. This was part of the agreement. Our lease is up and we were just going to play this next year by ear. Part of me hopes it sells fast. I'm ready for an adventure! I need tires, though :/

Yeah...I'm not worried, actually. We can camp in the bus as is. Might end up finishing it in a campground!
