If you head south east, you'll start to get to the Appalachian mountain range and it will be cooler up there. Sounds contrary cause you're heading south but the higher elevation is cooler.

You have ashville, NC, and Gatlinburg TN, lots of touristy places there. Fun to vacation at.

Nope :D

So that brings us to today. It looks like some storms are rolling in, and the heat index is still in the 100s, so I don't think we're going into Casey.

Well, this has to be the earliest update I've done! With the heat, we're cutting our travel days to no more then 3 hours of drive time per Google maps. Today was a little over 2.5 which got us here in about 4 hours with stops, right at 1 o'clock.

And where, exactly, is *here*? The beautiful KOA Journey in *checks notes* Casey, IL? Da'fuq is that?!? Kidding, kidding. Apparently it's home to a dozen of "the World's Largest [whatever]', so I'm thinking of taking the bus in and getting shots of them, so maybe today will have 2 updates!

The drive was hot, as usual. But at least it was relatively short. I have to say, I really hate I70, it's the main interstate where I live, and we got on it after St. Louis. Apparently, it's a boring ass highway no matter what state you're in, lol. In addition, I don't know if this is typical, but once we crossed into IL, Google was nonstop pinging about cops. And they were cracking down hard on commercial vehicles. It lightend up after about 30-40 miles on 70, and since it cruise at 60 tops, I had nothing to worry about. But it was still pretty crazy.

As for the KOA, I mean, it's a 'Journey' which means minimal amenities, and designed for quick in and outs. But it has a pool, and even my wife is taking advantage. It's actually pretty decent. There's a pond that's stocked with fish across from the camper, and the people were super nice. They even tried to help me get it positioned so I wouldn't have to unhook. But then I realized that I'd need to unhook to go into town anyway. Surprisingly, it looks like this is the first KOA of the trip that isn't next to train tracks, lol.
