Propane DOS and DONTS

Depends on jurisdiction I guess. Ours need testing every 6 years and get stamped. Without that they don't refill for any reason.

My understanding here in the States only the loose tanks need to be inspected, RV mounted tanks need no inspection.

Propane stops working around -42 degrees (F and C!) because it is too cold to be in gas form. Do not recommend!

Cool, maybe a bad word choice! I did not know that so ty! Temp back to more reasonable -6 right now and to +4 this week so I should be ok.
Actually the pilot runs all the time so maybe that heats the controls enough to operate in the cold with a stove or fridge.
Strange stuff you guys have freezing up at so warm a temp though.

Most problems with breakage aren't caused directly by propane, but by water that has contaminated the system (broken regulators) and by components that operate on water (on-demand water heaters)

The cheaper DOT (Manchester) tanks require periodic testing. The more expensive ACME tanks don't.

I know it's a simple typo, but I can't escape the visual of Wile E. Coyote setting a trap for the Road Runner using an ACME propane tank.

From what I have found on line, if you are planning on mounting your tank in a compartment under your bus, you’ll want an ASME approved tank vs a DOT approved tank. The latter are for external mounting.
