It doesn't even need to be professionally flared. Apparently single or double flare is acceptable for gas.

Wouldn’t galvanized pipe, maybe with a few coats of paint be adequate protection against salt?

So I woulda thunk. Only SS tubing I've worked with was for pneumatic brakes.
