I want to pay someone with solid experience, and good references a reasonable price to raise the roof on my bus.

Mine has the side door in the rear, which raises higher than the roof line, so I feel it will probably require some fab work, beyond my skills.

Well, a roof raise IS fab work. Is it a WC door you're talking about?
Check out all the MuddaEarth videos. He REALLY makes it easy to figure out a roof raise on there. Its really intimidating to think about, but actually raising the roof is amazingly easy.

You can see it raising up past the roof line in this pic.

How bout just raise the entire middle section from wheel to wheel?
Then you have a nice living area and the front and rear are undisturbed.

That's a great idea.
I also love love love your idea of gathering absolutely everything you will need before hand...including rivets, nuts and bolts...ALL tools necessary [emoji1]

Ha, thanks...
Yeah, lots of folks build in a HURRY. For various reasons, so I understand why.
I'm more into the slow, calculated, deliberate approach.

But that's also sorta how we ended up also buying the short bus. We wanted a bus to enjoy NOW. Now we're happy, and have a bus for any occasion as well as a long term project.

After a year or two of looking at every roof raise I could find, I took elements of each that I liked and adapted it to a plan that I felt would work well. I planned for the absolute worst, but when it all went down it was easy peasy.
The biggest pita was making the cap to go over the front part of the raise, but even that wasn't horrible.

I'll look into them. Believe it or not I called a shop in Pa today and they quoted me 15-23k. [emoji23]

Oh, I believe it. It's custom work, so some people think they can get away with trying to charge whatever they want to. Some people are also scared of doing this type of work for liability reasons.

It's 6'3 inside. Planning 20ish inches. I'm building a loft bed above the driverseat for the kids
