RE: BUS WITH AIR BRAKES AND TRAILER WITH ELECTRIC BRAKES?

Dear Friends:

How do you guys hook up your electric trailer brakes to a bus with air brakes?

Thanks in advance!

I have seen air over hydraulic in old military trailers before. maybe something like that could be converted to electric?

An electric trailer brake controller simply taps into the brake light switch at the pedal. A heavy wire is then run from the controller to the trailer wire receptacle that the trailer plugs into. You may need to change the plug, i.e a flat 4 wire trailer plug does not have a brake wire. I don't think it should matter what kind of brakes the tow vehicle has. Talk to the folks at your local trailer shop.
