you want numerically Lower which leads to Less driveshaft revolutions per wheel revolution.. I never realized they put that high of gears on an O/D transmission bus..

are you sure it actually shifted to 5th and hit the Lock up?

I wouldve expected 4.78's or 5.31's in a school bus...

Yeah, I'm just sleep deprived so I'm not connecting my thoughts properly.

At 40mph I manually shifted it down to fourth to make sure it went back to fifth when I let it go back to full auto. From what I can find on the web, that is indeed an available gear ratio which as eastcoastcb says is all about what type of route the bus was originally spec'd for. I don't want to sink more money into regearing than I'm spending for the bus. So sounds like I need to go back to shopping again.
